Energy Efficient Air Conditioners

Energy Efficient Air Conditioners - Optimize Your Home Improvement Savings

In all the recent rage over green living and energy efficiency, the federal government has not missed the boat.  In fact, the government has jumped on board with providing income tax credits for people who install certain energy efficient appliances and systems in their homes.  Besides the tax savings, homeowners who make these choices will also enjoy reductions in their monthly utility bills, making energy efficiency an even more attractive option.  One area that can both qualify for the tax credit and help with reducing energy bills are Energy Efficient Air Conditioners.

The federal government is providing tax credits on certain Energy Efficient Air Conditioners.  With this credit, you can claim a credit of thirty percent of the purchase and installation costs of a central air conditioning system, up to $1,500.  It is not always easy to determine which systems will qualify for the tax credit, so it is imperative in this case to ask a qualified HVAC professional to provide you with one that will qualify.  (In some cases, you also need to replace your furnace to get the tax credit.)  This is one credit that must be carefully considered in order to remain eligible to apply.   It is also important to note that the federal credit only covers central air conditioning systems.  Window units or small, portable air conditioning units that are used to cool only one room are not given special treatment by the government.

Although only central air systems can give a tax credit, and not all of them will, you can still find savings other than through tax credits by using Energy Efficient Air Conditioners of any kind.  By reducing the cost of running these systems, you can save money, and who isn't interested in that lately?  Even small savings will add up over time, especially when paired with other cost cutting moves in the home. Not only will you know that your bills will be lower, you will find an increased peace of mind from knowing that your home is not contributing to the energy problems that governments and politicians are working so hard to provide solutions for.
